The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to recruit candidates for various officer-level positions in Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches. The exam is held twice a year and serves as a gateway for both men and women to join the prestigious Indian Air Force as commissioned officers.

Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) FAQs

The AFCAT Exam covers the following -

General Awareness

  • History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment basic science, Defence, Art culture, Sports etc.

English

  • Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/Filling in of the correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms, and Testing of word, Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases

Numerical Ability

  • Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit and Loss, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion and Simple Interest, Time and Distance(trains/boats and streams)

Reasoning and military aptitude test

  • Verbal Skill and Spatial Ability

  • AFCAT and EKT (Engineering Knowledge) only for technical branch.
  • AFSB Interview -         
             1.     Screening test
             2.     Psychological test, Group test, Medical Test and Interview
             3.     CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) and/ or PABT only for Flying branch

Air Force conducts AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) twice a year Common Admission Test (AFCAT) usually in the month of February and September every year for the selection of officers in various branches of the Air force including the following:

 

  • Flying Branch (Short Service Commission)
  • Technical Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission)
  • Ground Duty Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission)

Every correct answer will be awarded with three marks while, negative marking for wrong attempts i.e. One mark will be deducted against every wrong answer.

Applications are invited from both male and female Indian citizens as per Citizenship Act 1955 for grant of Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent/Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty branches.
